Skis and stars under one and the same roof at Bansko

Miracles happened during the last five years in the Bulgarian winter resort Bansko. The small town nestling in the arms of the majestic Pirin mountain, was transformed into one of the most preferred skiing destinations in Europe.  The immense investments for building the skiing zone and the infrastructure logically led to a tremendous number of tourists from all regions of the world. The best thing is that Bansko is famous not only for the excellent conditions for skiing and other winter sports (snowboard, biathlon, ice skating and so on), but also for the excellent possibilities for rest during all seasons (SPA, golf, tourism). Luckily even for the most pretentious tastes there is found a very special place, were nature and luxury coexist in an unique atmosphere. The five star Kempinsky Hotel Grand Arena Bansko is the choice of all most selected visitors of the Bulgarian winter resort. The luxury flats and rooms, restaurants and bars, the unique SPA center, the high quality service and cares for the client will bring you into another world far away from the grey daily grind quite near the paradise. It is not accidental that the Kempinsky Grand Arena is the host of the star guests of all special events in Bansko.

Ski opening season in Bansko

Every year the opening of the skiing season is attracting thousands of fans of winter sports. On December 12 for the first time on the ski-track “Alberto Tomba was carried out a competition of the super champions Legends’ Super Race, in which were conquering the undeniable giants of the world alpine skiing – Marc Ghirardelli, Pirmin Zurbrigen, Petar Popangelov, Bojan Krizay, Paul Acolla, Patrick Ortlieb, Peter Mueller and Hubert Strolz. (?) The winner in the disputed conquest became the honorable citizen of Bansko, the prodigious Marc Ghirardelli. This year the visiting grandeurs took participation in a special charity initiative in favor of the children’s ski sport, granting personal ski accessories of extremely high emotional value.  The granted objects were put up to auction, at the bar “Happy end”, and the income was committed to the program for gratuitous children’s tuition “Learn skiing” of the Bulgarian Ski Federation. All special guests were placed in Kempinski Grand Arena – the only place in Bansko, where the charm of the local life style and the world class luxury join in a genuine refined atmosphere.

Bansko is already among the favorite places of the World ski federation (FIS), which delegated to the Bulgarian winter resort and to the concessionaire of the ski-zone “Julen” AS the organization of several valuable sporting events from its calendar. In 2009 a round of the world cup of FIS for the events descent and giant slalom was carried out in Bansko, and at the beginning of 2010 made their debut   the participants in the European cup for slalom for men. The greatest acknowledgement, and at the time the greatest challenge is still forward – in 2011 Bansko will be a host of a round of the world cup of FIS for the events super-combination and slalom for men, which would be with no doubt one of the most spectacular sporting events, which we shall be direct eyewitnesses.
