Strimon Spa Club – LUXURY AND HEALING WATERS IN THE TOWN OF CHERRIES

?>

Kyustendil, the ‘town of cherries’ and birthplace of painter Vladimir Dimitrov (‘The Master’) now has another asset to list to its attractions: the exquisite five-star hotel Strimon Spa Club. The town has of old been known for its medicinal warm springs – in fact word has it that they were the very reason the Thracians first came to these regions. It is not by chance that the building that houses the Strimon hotel is actually a reconstructed former balneotherapy sanatorium, used to cure ailments through medicinal bathing. Currently, the luxurious hotel manages to preserve the
past balneological traditions of the town but has transformed them into a luxurious fivestar pleasure. The hotel building was constructed between 1955 and 1960, the original architecture is a replica to the style of Master Aleksij – a designer, mason and constructor of the Rila Monastery. More recently, a team of designers and architects successfully took on the challenge of reconstructing it into a top-end hotel.

Temptations

After a full renovation and refurnishing, the Strimon Spa Hotel now has 69 rooms, 4 deluxe suites, and 2 two-level maisonettes with Jacuzzi and a bed right under the stars. The rooms live up to the wishes of even the most demanding guests, with a minibar, personal bathrobes and a walk-in closet. When passing by the reception, or waiting to check in, do not miss the chance to visit the lobby bar and have an excellent cocktail or a glass of malt whiskey. You may even treat yourself to a glass of Remy Martin Louis ХIII cognac, a truly exclusive experience since there are only two bottles available in Bulgaria. But there is more in terms of gourmet pleasures. The former bomb shelter of the sanatorium, situated deep underground, has been turned into a wine cellar that boasts a rich collection
of exclusive wines. The space is divided into three separate areas – individually decorated in white, red and pink – to harmonise with your preference for white wine, red wine or rose. The interior of the cellar, with its intoxicating smell of oak and wine, is the perfect setting for a romantic dinner for two, or a banquet with family and friends.

Business

Alternatively, you can enjoy a discreet business meeting while tasting a range of exclusive wines and selected
hors d’oeuvres. Although not a typical business hotel, Strimon offers all necessary facilities for successful corporate dealings: it has a fully equipped conference room with highspeed internet access that allows for various layouts of 20, 30 or 80 seats, a separate luxurious business hall that holds up to 30 people, and an Executive Lounge for more intimate business talks.

Pleasures

But we cannot consider this luxurious fivestar hotel without commenting on its most attractive feature – the healing waters. The Strimon Spa Club is the first spa centre in town and the total complex covers an impressive thousand-plus square metres. The club has 18 different treatment areas, among which a Roman bath with three mineral pools – Kaldarium, Tepidarium and Frigidarium – an infrared sauna, aromatherapy, mud therapy, and a hall for relaxation and massage with warm Sabai granite stones. All treatments use the highquality product range of Pevonia Botanica
cosmetics. For those of you who have always considered Cleopatra’s milk baths a myth, now is your chance to make them become reality. For a single ‘Cleopatra’s bath’ procedure the tub is filled with tens of litres of pure milk and
your personal choice of vanilla, cinnamon or chocolate aroma. The list of treats and treatments at Strimon Spa Club is endless, which makes it the perfect place to spend your long holidays in the Kyustendil region. Or you can just take a mini-break with an unforgettable spa weekend…why not this Friday?
